Summary
Professor Gary Hylander of Stonehill College discusses three trials in this series. In "Sacco & Vanzetti, " he discusses the background of the events and the trial and asks if the defendants were found guilty because of their unpopular political beliefs and immigrant backgrounds, or if the weight of the evidence presented to a Dedham jury warranted their convictions and death by electrocution. "The Lindbergh Kidnapping" deals with the astounding media frenzy surrounding the trial of the man accused of the kidnapping and murder of the infant son of one of America's heroes. With the crime considered "worse than murder, " the "Rosenberg Spy Trial" took place in a time when America was caught up in the hysteria of the Second Red Scare, McCarthyism and international Communism. It remains the subject of great emotional debate and acrimony
